Calvert CEO Joins Former Vice President Al Gore in UN Summit on Climate Change

Calvert CEO Barbara J. Krumsiek joined over 300 heads of state and government, chief executives of global business, civil society leaders and the Heads of UN Agencies in New York City for the United Nations Summit on Climate Change. This Summit’s purpose was to build positive political momentum towards the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference taking place in Copenhagen in December 2009.

The Leadership Forum on Climate Change gathered Governments, Business, and Civil Society to discuss how business can be part of the solution. At a mid-day press conference, Ms. Krumsiek joined Al Gore, Former Vice President; H.E. Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Prime Minister of Denmark; Dr. Zhengrong Shi, Chairman and CEO of Suntech; Mr. Helmy Abouleish, Managing Director of SEKEM; and Mr. Djimon Hounsou, Academy Award nominee Actor. The press conference was moderated by Dr. Robert C. Orr, Assistant Secretary-General, Office of the Secretary-General.
Ms. Krumsiek presented Calvert’s continuing commitment to addressing climate change through investment solutions:
- Explore new investment strategies with a specific climate focus.
- Continue to improve our sustainability research process that connects climate analysis and investment performance.
- Work to measure the carbon footprint of our funds.
- Attempt to secure climate advocacy and policy wins.
- Become more carbon efficient in our own internal operations.
